Lahra and Chicco co-founded Fivelements in Bali in 2007 with their partners as an integrated wellness lifestyle concept, bringing to life a new genre of wellness destinations and services that would bridge the wisdom of traditional cultures with innovative healing concepts. Today, the multi-award-winning wellness retreat in Bali is inspired by its core philosophy, nurturing harmony among spirit, human and the environment.
As Vision Director, Lahra’s key role is creating high impact, innovative wellness strategies, curating inspiring eco-design and crafting authentic wellness programmes. As Managing Director, Chicco is the key principal in overseeing operations management and the execution of Fivelements’ growth strategy. Together, they possess a wealth of experience in international business, creative entrepreneurship, holistic health, hospitality and spiritual dialogue
What is the basic philosophy of Fivelements?
Our approach to healing and wellness comes from the Balinese philosophy of “Tri Hita Karana", which guides many practical aspects of life.
Tri Hita Karana refers to “three causes of wellbeing” - harmony among spirit, human and nature.
Our effort is to encourage wellness through a harmonious relationship with others, with our environment, and through spiritual connection, because we recognise that individual health, happiness, and fulfilment are reflections of inner harmony and a healthy relationship with life.
What makes you different from other retreats?
We infuse everything we do with the basic philosophy of Tri Hita Karana and have created a holistic integrative healing and wellness concept with entirely signature therapies and programmes embracing this philosophy. To experience Fivelements is to embark upon an ‘alchemic journey’ blending mystic healing cultures and traditions from around the world with innovative wellness concepts. Our intention is for every guest, partner and employee to leave feeling a more whole and profound connection to their authentic nature and the will to transform through Love.
What is your most popular programme?
Panca Mahabhuta is our Signature Rejuvenation Retreat and most popular programme, where guests can experience the best of our treatments, private sessions, and cuisine over a minimum of 3 nights. How do you support your guests to find the right treatments?
When guests attend one of our retreats, they begin the stay with an individual consultation with our Guest Liaison. Following the guest’s completion of a health and lifestyle questionnaire, they meet with our guest liaison for an informal conversation about their current state of health and wellness and also their goals for the stay. Our guest liaison then suggests and the most suitable therapies, cuisine, and Sacred Arts sessions which is tailor for the guest’s needs.

What is the most important advice you would give to someone who wants to do a detox retreat?
Cleansing is a powerful and rewarding process physically, mentally, and emotionally. Guests often emerge from a cleanse with remarkable improvements in mental clarity, energy level, ease in the body, mood, and in the appreciation of food! Depending on one’s goals and current lifestyle, a cleanse could range from plant-based cuisine to soups, broths, and juices. It is not necessary to “starve” to have an effective cleanse.
Do you provide support after your guests stay?
Our primary focus is on our retreat guests while at Fivelements. Our dedicated guest liaison will guide each retreater through the entire experience, with a view to to nurture and empower guests for life beyond Fivelements. Guests and team members often form a bond during the retreat stay and find themselves in touch even after they leave.
