Originally a spot dedicated to the most passionate of surfers, Nihiwatu has been transformed into an all-villa resort set on a private beach with an exotic open-air spa. Found on Sumba Island, Nihiwatu feels like an untouched tropical wilderness – and the style of the resort echoes this.

Nihiwatu boasts two spas areas, the Beach Spa with open-air pavilions, as well as the Nihi Oka spa safari experience. The creekside yoga pavilion is also open to the elements and is the ideal spot for quiet meditation.

The 21 villas of exceptional design are built on private terraces with large verandahs that sift through the trees with an impressive use of living space, imbued by natural materials to make the most of the dramatic views.

Spa

The 'Spa Safari' experience on offer sets Nihiwatu apart from other resort spas, involving a full day excursion and trek through the rainforest.

The open-air spa pavilions allow for nature to be present at all times, from the crashing of the waves to the music of birdsong.

Cuisine

At Ombak Restaurant Chef Bernard creates an exquisite menu influenced by his worldwide travels. In particular the flavours of Indonesia, Mexico, Europe, Thailand and the Middle East are expertly combined and the resort restaurant has been well awarded thanks to his culinary influence.

The main approach is to be inspired by the garden, using the freshest home-grown ingredients and seafood caught on the day.
